Tokyo Cinema Camera Packages & Local Crew Logistics

As an independent Director of Photography based in Tokyo for over 20 years, I provide commercial, documentary, and corporate productions with a small yet complete camera, lens, and lighting and grip kit. My personal gear setup is optimized for easy transport across the Kanto region and nationwide, saving overseas clients the headaches of the logistics of international freight and customs carnets.

Operating as a bilingual (English/Japanese) filmmaker, I can help act as your link on the ground in Japan. Whether you simply need me to arrive on set as a solo freelance cameraman with a compact kit, or require me to scale up and assemble a full crew of local English-speaking gaffers, ACs, and Sound Recordists, I can tailor the gear and crew to fit your production’s needs.

Sony FX6 Cinema Line Camera

My main camera body. Very good in low-light, has internal ND filters, and dual-native ISO, making it great for high end corporate, commercial, and streaming documentary shoots.

Sony a7S III Mirrorless Camera

My travel and/or B-cam. Color matches perfectly with the FX6, fits into a backpack when traveling by train across Japan, and works as a great option for low-profile b-roll or gimbal work or shooting guerrilla on the streets of Tokyo.

Sony G Master and Sigma Art Lenses

I shoot on a mix of Sigma Art high speed primes and Sony G Master II zooms.  Great for low light, fast and accurate focus, pristine sharpness and beautiful bokeh.

Amaran Ray 360 and Amaran Halo 600 Lights

My main key lights, color accurate with high REI, great for sit down interviews or commercial product shots.

Intellytech 2.0 Lite Cloth Light

A high powered LED mat, slim profile when space is tight in small Tokyo office spaces or shooting locations.

Compact LED lights and smaller fixtures

I also have smaller LED panels and Amaran tube lights for accent and hair lights or adding a bit of illumination where needed.

DJI RS3 Gimbal

Perfect match for the A7Siii and lightweight G Master II zooms for fluid tracking shots, follow shots and steady moving footage.

Portable Teleprompter

I used the downtime during Covid to build a small, lightweight Teleprompter.  Great for corporate shoots where the talent needs help reading through there scripts during interviews.
